New funding for Essex Fire and Rescue Authority

Essex Fire and Rescue Authority has been awarded £220,000 from the Fire Transformation Fund to save the fire and rescue authority a projected £2.3 million.

Essex will lead a syndicate of nine fire and rescue authorities establishing an insurance pooling arrangement open to all fire and rescue authorities with additional secondary insurance to cover extreme events.

New Head Appointed to Essex Public Service Reform

The Essex Partnership Board has appointed Patrick Guthrie as Head of Public Service Reform, effective Monday 13 October 2014.

Patrick will lead the Public Service Reform Unit, which supports the Essex Partnership to achieve its vision of creating healthy, prosperous, and resilient communities in Essex by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of public services.

The Essex Partnership brought together key partners and stakeholders from across public, private and voluntary services at the annual Sounding Board event on Friday 26 September. Attendees heard from a range of speakers about recent achievements in reshaping public service provision and were encouraged to think differently about how to tackle the future challenges confronting public services.

The Strengthening Communities Programme aims to build a comprehensive approach to help create and support the conditions for stronger, more resilient communities across Essex. This will be achieved by redefining the relationship between the public, commercial, voluntary and community sectors to give people and communities - wherever possible - choice, control and responsibility, thus creating stronger and more resilient communities and reducing demand on Public Services.

Devolution must match Essex’s ambition

The government’s drive to enable public service partnerships to develop local solutions for local issues and to the benefit of citizens, must match the ambition of places like Essex.

That was the message today (Friday 26 October) from the leader of Essex County Council, Cllr David Finch, at the annual Sounding Board meeting of the Essex Partnership Board (EPB).
